EC CHAIR

Welcome to the most humongous Corpse ever released! You are looking upon a double-issue of such dimensions whole armies of the desperately literate were drafted in its pharaonic cause. Please welcome our new Assistant Editor, Mark Spitzer, who has plunged into the Corpus with illuminated devotion. Below is a pale reflection of Mark, which doesn't even begin to tell the story. Mr. Spitzer is a novelist of renown (Bottom Feeder), a noted translator (The Collected Poems of Georges Bataille), and a long-time contributor to Exquisite Corpse in both its printed period and its cyber-incarnation. Check out his novel Chum, which continues in serial form in this issue.

In other Corpse news, our former Power-and-LightHouse Rex Rose has retired to Emeritus editorial status, but will continue on our mast as Contributing Editor. We wish to thank also some dear friends who have contributed their time to reading and proofing this issue: Robin Becker, Nat Hardy, Mark Jackson, DeSha Tolar and Dan McNamara.
We are also tremendously pleased to announce that The New Orleans School for the Imagination, whose founding was announced in our last issue, is now a reality. Under the auspices of the Madame Palmetto Amusement Company, the New Orleans School for the Imagination has now a physical space at "The Rooster" theatre, located above Mama Rosa's Slice of Italy on Rampart Street. "The Rooster" now houses Tristan Codrescu's production company, which has just finished a successful run of "The Madman and the Nun" by Witkiwiecz, and The New Orleans Circus School.   Dave Brinks' Trembling Pillow productions is hosting weekly readings there. We have had over a hundred inquiries about NOSI and are now in the process of preparing the application forms. The virtual NOSI is also being prepared, with a variety of Internet offerings. We will let you know about our progress by breaking into the Cybercorpse with emergency posting.
Have a languorous and shameless summer!
