Endless Dream
by Edie Tsong
The phrase "I love you" connects people in an intimate and abstract way. It is one of the most meaningful phrases we can say to one another, yet trying to define "love" is like trying to define "art." To use this phrase in artwork puts me in a direct relationship with the viewer. The "I" in the phrase is me, and "you" is the viewer. These roles are switched when the viewer sees the work and assumes the role of "I." The connector, the verb, could be a variety of verbs, but most importantly it is the thing that allows communication.
