The Making and Unmaking of Person

No Good
by Clive Matson

Clouds dripping orange
say to me,
You're no good.

Clouds dripping gray
say to me,
You're no good.

Moon, sunset, cliffs,
tree branches:
you're no good.

Rain. The universe
spits on me.

Buildings, asphalt corners,
people on streets.
You're no good.

Newspaper, radio, TV,
You're no good.

No good: empty wallet.
No good: dented car.
No good: unkempt hair.
No good: shirt threadbare.

No good: itchy butthole.
No good: noodle pecker.

No good: no warm,
wet penis hole.

Can't find any good
in the bushes.
Can't find any good
under the buses.

The encompassing story:
You're no good.
Stumbly words
out stumbly mouth.

Mostly the feeling in body:
You're no good.
