Discovery
from L. Wiese
The Montecito Free Press , Carpenteria, Ca. has received the following dispatch from our stringer with poaching abalone divers off the island of Anacapa, Channel Islands, southern California. Byline: Alponse Pimerstein, 7/7/03. "Divers have just come up from their foraging and told me that they have come across a wreck of what appears to be a small submarine. The vessel has the symbol of the Rising Sun on it's bow, indicating that it was perhaps a two-man, suicide submarine from the World War 2 era. U.S. Navy salvage crews have retrieved the vessel and taken it to the Navy base @ Port Jueneme, California." Pimperstein reports that even though 60 years have passed, the U.S.Navy is reluctant to reveal the details of the discovery. Pimperstein has been able to gain access to one of the investigating personnel, Chief Petty officer, Clarice Nakashimi, who has stated that the skeletal remains of, what appears to be one female and one male operative, were found inside the sub. Most remarkable is the revelation that CPO Nakashimi has found, upon investigation of the interior of the vessel, a message scrawled on a bulkhead of the interior. Nakashimi has offered the following translation from the Japanese:"Anybody with a half an ear and a piece-a-ring asshole, knows that war is not a good idea."
