Artist's
Statement by Lynne Douglass |

My goal is to allow some lateral movement. Leave some room for personalization and perceptualization for the viewer. Negative space can be a good thing. Of humongous importance are light, spontaneity, mood, time, and juxtapostion. Since the dawning of the Age of the iMac in my life, I've had some self-quibble with balancing the concept of digital art vs photography. Beauty vs Honesty. Purist vs Bastardized. Execution vs Impressionistic. Woe is I, but they are both drives I now like to take. Partial List of Other influences would include: Dr. Jontyle Robinson. Art Lover, TEACHER, and human d'jour. Sent from Washington DC (in the nick of undergraduate, impressionistic mind time) all the way to Institute, West Virginia. She gave my mind eyes, and my eyes mind, which led to a burning desire to seek beyond my peripheries. Be it with self, words, or images. The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Brautigan, Bukowski, Burroughs, Degas, Joyce, Kandinsky, Lautrec, King, Mappelthorpe, Munch, O'Keefe, Rice, Rotluff, Saturday Night Live, and Second City. |
